AMC Fan Fiction

Episode #58
By Patti G

Scene 1:

Tim decides it's time to show up at crime scene and find out how far the investigation has gotten and what his "Brothers in Blue" now know. Brock sees Tim arrive and walks up to speak to him.

"I thought you were off duty?"

"I heard the news and came right over to see if I could help. I can't believe it's Jack Montgomery's son. Any idea what happened?"

Brock says, "Right now the CSI Unit is scoping out the scene. Jesse has me keeping everyone away to give them room and cause no contamination of the area. He has some uniforms keeping the press and the lookey-loos far away. Since you're here, maybe you can give them a hand?"

"Sure. No problem. Where's the Chief?"

"He's still in the house with the family. I heard he's personally taking AJ Chandler's statement. As far as Jack's daughter, Lily, he's working on talking to her as soon as Jack can be with her. She's very shaken up."

"Yeah, I forgot she has that mental problem."

Still after all these months of working with Tim, Brock can't get over how small-minded and intolerant Tim is. "Lily Montgomery does not have a mental problem, Tim. She has Asperger's Syndrome. Her IQ is higher than yours and mine combined. She is attending MIT."

"Okay, calm down, Brock. I didn't mean anything bad about her. Let me go check with the uniforms and see what I can do to help out."

Scene 2:

Scott and Madison arrive at the hospital. Scott's TV crew pulls up right behind them. Scott is feeling torn. On one hand this a big story on so many levels. On the other hand he knows the people involved and doesn't want to inflict any additional pain.

Madison sees her husband's dilemma. She truly feels for him in this situation. "Scott, why don't you and your crew hold back for a few. Let me go see if I can find Jack or Krystal and see if I can help in any way. I will also "test the water" on letting you speak to them."

"Thanks, Madison. The last thing I want is to upset the family more than they are right now. We both know that it would be better if I spoke to them and respected their grief than if one of these trash rags or sleaze TV shows got to them and profited from their pain."

"I know, honey. I will do whatever I can to help you, but we have to protect them too."

Scene 3:

Emma and Miranda are in the kitchen making a pot of coffee and some snacks for everyone.

"I can't believe this is really happening," Emma says. "This is like something you would see on TV."

"Well, it's not TV," Miranda says to Emma. "Reggie was really shot. AJ is being interviewed by the police. Poor Lily is devastated. I can't imagine what they went through. The killer could have shot them, too."

"Okay, Miranda, chill. I know this is real. I couldn't bear it if something had happened to AJ."

"You mean AJ and Lily, of course?"

"Oh, yeah, right. AJ and Lily."

"Let me take this coffee inside and see if Jesse is done with AJ. He needs his friends right now."

Scene 4:

Jesse asks AJ to have a seat. "I spoke to Marissa and JR, and they said I could take an informal statement from you. Are you okay with that?"

AJ settles into the sofa, fidgets a bit then takes a sip of his drink. "Look, I want to do whatever I can to help you find whoever did this to Reggie. Can you tell me how Lily is doing?"

"First, Lily is with Zach and he is trying to explain to her what happened. At least the broadest strokes. Jack wants to be there when she gives an official statement. I appreciate you helping us out, AJ. I want to tell you that I was very impressed with the way you handled the situation when you found Reggie. I have rookie cops who wouldn't have handled it as well as you did. Now just tell me slowly and clearly exactly what happened from the moment you and Lily got here to the house."

With that AJ goes ahead and tells Jesse exactly what happened.

Scene 5:

Jake and Angie walk out of the Trauma Room and see so many friends and family of Reggie. People that are their friends as well. Both Jake and Angie think to themselves that this has to be one of the hardest part of their job. Well, no sense in delaying this. Everyone looks at both the doctors anxiously waiting for some good news. Hoping for the best, preparing for the worst.
